10 Commandments

I learned an incredible way to learn and remember the 10 commandments! So I thought I would share. I don't know exactly how this is going to work out since you kinda need visual aids, but I'll do my best.

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Finger 1- showing that there is only ONE God.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image.
2 Fingers - you can turn your hand around with the two fingers and poke your 2 eyes so you don't have idols
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain.
3 Fingers - just the width with these fingers to cover your mouth
4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
4 Fingers - scratch your head like you are trying to remember something and this will help you remember this commandment
5. Honor thy father and they mother.
5 Fingers - hold up your hand with all finger outstretched like you are in court with your right hand raised....like the whole "i honor to...."
6. Thou shalt not kill.
6 Fingers - a six shooter is used to kill people (you can't really make a gun with six fingers) but 6 and 6 so yeah
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
7 fingers - starting with your palms to you, if you count to your 7th finger starting on the right you get you ring finger helping you remember your marriage vows
These last three then tie in together if you are over at a friends house.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
Thou shalt not steal from the cookie jar. (using actions of stealing)
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
with hands behind back shouldn't hide cookie and not tell what you've done
10. Thou shalt not covet.
You shouldn't covet your friends cookie.
Now each and every one of you will hopefully know and enjoy reciting the laws of our God and land.

Memory Verse: "Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." ~ Proverbs 16:24

That is an awesome way to remember them. I read an e-mail one time that showed how to do a 5-finger prayer. I still use it.
